DAY 1: DEPART FOR KIBEHO

You will be met by your driver/guide at your hotel in Kigali for an early morning departure to Kibeho; a village in Rwanda most known for a place where the Virgin Mary appeared to 3 adolescent girls with the name "Nyina wa Jambo" (meaning Mother of the World). Arrive for lunch in Butare then proceed to visit the Kibeho Church and the shrine to “Our Lady of Kibeho.”  We then travel to Nyarushishi hill to see the magnificent statue of Christ, called, Divine Mercy Statue.

The history of the statue began in February of 2000 in Chicago in the United States. Four years later, it found its way to the “country of a Thousand Hills”, Rwanda in the month of August in 2004, where it has remained ever since. Later stay for overnight on bed and breakfast at Regina Pacis which is run by the Benebikira Sisters and they will be more than glad to share their stories with you. One of the 3 girls that the Virgin Mary appeared to, Nathalie Mukamazimpaka is still alive and can still be seen in the Shrine; In the Apparition Room or at the Shrine's compound. Tens of thousands of pilgrims now travel to Kibeho each year in search of benediction.
